But not only families and hikers will love the spectacular natural surrounding that Niederthai and the Ötztal have to offer – demanding high alpine tours lure sports enthusiasts onto the 21 three-thousanders of the Ötztal Alps. More than 50 alps, countless places where you can have a rest and enjoy a meal and more than 20 huts of the Austrian Alpine Association – where you can find shelter – make the Ötztal a paradise for hikers.
The Stuibenfall
The Stuibenfall in Niederthai – the highest waterfall in Tyrol – allows lovers of nature to observe an impressive natural phenomenon. The waters of the Horlachbach plunge down 159m across two small plateaus covering the steps leading up to the waterfall with cooling white mist. Experience the power of this spectacular natural phenomenon first hand. Right next to the waterfall there is a family-friendly via ferrata, which can be used by children from the age of ten. It is 450 m long and an adventure for the whole family.
Area 47
The adventure park Area 47 at the entrance of the Ötztal has an attractive program for sports enthusiasts and lovers of nature alike. No matter whether you intend to go rafting in the white water, try canyoning across steep ravines, go climbing along the high rope course or the via ferrata – this outdoor arena has proved a recipe for fun and adventure for old and young alike. In the water area of the adventure park you find wakeboard facilities, exciting waterslides, cannonball and blobbing.
The Aqua Dome
Those who prefer to enjoy some peace and quiet while they’re leaving their cares behind should pay a visit to the Aqua Dome in Längenfeld. This futuristic water temple was one of the first thermal baths in Tyrol. Allow yourself to drift away in one of the twelve indoor and outdoor pools with temperatures from 93 – 97°F and enjoy the beneficial effects of the thermal water. With its panorama outdoor pool, the children’s area, the sauna area and the gym the Aqua Dome provides something for every taste.
